A bazaar of talents; a thunder of successes…
Setting up magazines. Editing websites. Writing stories. Creating brand personalities. Writing exhibition narratives. Publishing creative writing anthologies. Interviewing our heroes. Writing national newspaper features. Conceiving campaign concepts. Making films. Writing scripts. Running a writers’ reading night. Commissioning design, illustration and photography. Teaching English in far-off places. Geeking over grammar. Burning the midnight oil. Securing sponsorship. Throwing parties. Taking risks. Writing business plans. Winning funding. Building audiences. Chasing dreams. Discovering new collaborators. Making friends.
Stranger Collective’s partners and writers have a colourful range of strengths and experience between them. Pooling our talents, contacts and expertise into the same ‘pack’ makes for a compelling team.
Most of us met through Stranger magazine, an award-winning bi-monthly creative lifestyle publication we set up in 2004 and ran for 16 issues until September 2007. Offering a flavour of life in Britain that didn’t just revolve around the nation’s capital, the magazine tuned into the alternative and creative side of our culture, presenting a mix of music, film, environment, current affairs, surf, skate and fashion tied together by a distinctive visual style.
Since then the pack has expanded into new terrain, taking in everything from spoken word performance to transcreation in five European languages; underwater film campaigns to festival programmes.
