Origin is a high quality, bold and independent coffee roasting company from Cornwall that’s striving to raise coffee standards across the UK. After a successful first six years – during which they’ve played a leading role in shaping a vibrant new café culture in Cornwall, and worked with the likes of Tate, Jamie Oliver, Rick Stein, Thomasina Miers and Nathan Outlaw – the company reached a key stage in its evolution by setting up its own specialist roastery in Cornwall. They wanted to create a brand book to share Origin’s story, approach and values; to build the brand personality; and win new clients and stockists across the UK.
As well as writing magazine-style features and profiles, we suggested inventive ways of structuring Origin company content.
Firstly we drank coffee. Lots of it. We interviewed the team at Origin HQ and watched the roasting process, learning a huge amount about coffee and soaking up the team’s knowledge, passion and commitment.
We also took a look at what other coffee brands were doing and, from this, developed an understanding of the way Origin needed to speak to its savvy and selective audience, to stand out in an increasingly competitive market.
As well as writing magazine-style features and profiles, we edited the El Salvador and Nicaragua travel diaries written by the Origin team, and suggested inventive ways of structuring Origin company content.
Finally, we worked with A-Side Studio to bring the stylish new brand book to life, subediting features in design and poring over every last detail before going to press, to ensure the book represented the accomplished quality and craft of the Origin brand.
