Are you the Stranger we’re seeking?

“The universe is made of stories, not atoms.” Poet Muriel Rukeyser coined it and we couldn’t agree more. If you think stories are the key to helping us understand, communicate and connect too, you might be just the person we’re looking for.

2025 is set to be a busy year here at Stranger Collective so we’re looking for two talented writer-producers with all-rounder experience to join our team of regular freelancers – or ‘permalancers’ as we like to call them – working with us between 7-10 days a month.

What you’ve got:

  • Plenty of experience writing for a range of brands and clients across lifestyle, FMCG, hospitality, arts, heritage or tech brands
  • Razor sharp project management skills
  • Self starting attitude and ability to manage your own to-do list and workload effectively
  • Aptitude for remote working systems and processes (you’ll need to log your hours through our time management software, be a dab hand at Slack and familiar with Asana and Trello – or eager to learn)
  • Experience liaising directly with clients, taking briefs and responding to feedback
  • 2-3 days a week to commit to delivering content, copy, ideas across our broad range of clients from international media and tech brands to circular economy challengers, world-class heritage destinations and hotel collections
  • A set-up ready to get stuck in with remote working (good WiFi, laptop, mobile etc)
  • A willingness to travel to/within Cornwall, if needed for client meetings and away days

What you get:

  • A 6-month permalancer commission, from mid Jan – mid June 2025, with possibility of extension
  • Guaranteeed 2-3 days a week (either set days or ‘floating’ hours across the week – we’re all about flexibility) delivering content across a wide range of projects
  • Competitive day rates
  • Payment on receipt of monthly invoices, rather than the standard 30-day terms
  • A lead contact in the team offering support and guidance
  • A monthly wellbeing budget and benefits
  • A chance to come and work with the team in Cornwall, one-off or regularly, if it suits you
  • Free attendance to Stranger events in 2025 (we’ve got big plans)
  • A welcoming, relaxed, supportive team and positive remote working culture

Interested? Great. Apply by sending a CV, covering letter and two samples of relevant copywriting and/or content creation (our website is a great place to look to get a sense of the work we do) to [email protected] by 3 January. We’ll review all the applications and schedule follow up interviews and copy tests by 10 January, and get the successful candidates started by the end of the month.
