Creative Internship Cornwall

Switched on to the power of words? Looking to put that power into practice? We’re looking for someone from our home turf to take us up on our next internship opportunity.

Stranger Collective is a Cornwall-based brand storytelling and creative content studio that believes the right words can change the world.

From magazines to brand strategy, tone of voice to interactive exhibitions, we work with local, national and international clients of all shapes and sizes to help them find their stories and tell them well.

We’re a high performance, high volume agency that puts quality and creativity first; building strong, lasting relationships with clients while making sure we give everyone we work with the added value and attention they deserve.

On top of the crack team of writers and thinkers at our heart, over the years we’ve drawn together a wide collective of creatives and artists – filmmakers, art directors, digital developers, sound artists, illustrators, animators and more – so we can shape the very best team for every brief.

We’re looking for a curious, conscientious early career creative who is up for working with us for three months, to put their creative copywriting to the test on real briefs, contribute to agency activities and learn about all facets of agency life, from how we work with clients to how we unpick a brief for maximum results.

What’s on offer

  • 3-month paid placement at the National Living Wage (with 1-month good fit check-in)
  • This will be a hybrid placement, with some days – agreed with the successful candidate – in our Falmouth studio and some days working remotely. These days could be set each week, or bulked together to create a concentrated chunk of time in the studio with the team.
  • Flexible working hours around core team hours (10am–3pm)
  • Chance to work on live projects and undertake an individual creative portfolio project. This will put into practice the experience and knowledge you’ve gathered during your internship, in an area you’re interested in developing
  • A structured development and experience plan for the internship covering content, brand and agency life
  • A lead contact in the agency for day-to-day matters, a buddy in the team to talk to when you need to, regular team catch-ups and informal check-ins during the internship, and experience shares from our collective.

How to apply and what we need

Our summer 2025 internship is open to anybody based in Cornwall who can show a demonstrable interest in a creative career with words, is keen to learn more – from the copywriting coalface – and develop their professional experience.

The internship suits someone who’s able to work proactively and independently (with some support each day from the team) as well as contribute to team tasks. It involves managing multiple tasks and a lengthy To Do list. The Stranger intern needs to be as happy mucking in on the admin side as doing creative concept thinking.

An aptitude for learning, or existing knowledge of, project management and remote-team communication software (Slack, Trello, Asana, Harvest) would be useful.

We are a deadline driven environment that works fast, pivots quickly and pushes out a high volume of quality content. In return we have a friendly, supportive culture, regular team meet ups and a chance to work on a wide variety of projects and tasks.

Closing date is 18 April 2025. Internship start date is early May 2025.

  • Creative task: What makes good copy? Think of an example of really good copy that caught your attention recently. Share that with us and, in about 50-100 words, tell us why you like it. Watch one of the Stranger team talk about a great copy line they saw:
