This week I’ve been steering my creative writing in a whole new direction. I’ve been trying to write funny. Inspired by a competition being run by an agent to find funny writing for children – with the very tempting prize of representation on offer – I’ve been taking what I know about writing, and what I think I know about what kids might find funny, and exploring a very different world to the ones I’m used to writing fiction about. How difficult can it be? I’ll report back on the results as and when I manage to graft out a giggle or two…
