We’re calling analogue filmmakers to get shooting with our Super 8 filmmaking competition.
Embrace the grain and get haptic, as we give you the chance to get your Super 8 film shot, seen, and shared at our League of Strangers Super 8 Culture Club night.
To celebrate the re-release of the iconic KODAK Super 8 camera, we’re on the lookout for budding filmmakers to enter our cinematic celluloid competition– judged by a panel that includes Little White Lies digital editor Adam Woodward and award-winning analogue film maker Mark Jenkin.
Thanks to the lovely folk at Kodak, if it makes the cut, you’ll win yourself a roll of brand new Ektachrome 100D stock to shoot on, its development and then we’ll premiere your film in front of an audience of analogue appreciators and film-world aficionados.
What’s more, we’ll be exhibiting stills of the winning film in the Stranger studio, throughout March 2019
How to enter
Got a film idea? Great. Simply choose three images to represent your Super 8 story, put together a 150 word description or synopsis to pull us in, and send with the subject line “Super 8 competition” to [email protected]
We’ll also be picking one of our winners on Instagram. To be in with an extra chance of making your three minute masterpiece, upload your three pictures to Instagram (in one post), ‘at’ us @Strangercollective and include the hashtag #StrangerSuper8comp by the 14th January. We’ll repost all the submissions on our account and let our followers choose their favourite.
If your storyboard gets chosen by our panel of cinema buffs, or our followers, we’ll wing a Super 8 cartridge your way, ready for you to get shooting in straight Super 8 style – that means no editing and no post production, just your raw story in all its Super 8 grittiness.
Once your film is shot, we’ll get it developed onto film and digitally, ready for premiere night in February 2019, where we’ll be firing up the projector for some serious celluloid celebration.
DEADLINE FOR STORYBOARD SUBMISSIONS: 14th January
