Thursday 7 December, Espressini, Falmouth, 7pm
Tickets £15 includes three tasting wines
Organised by our very own Clare Howdle and her talented wine-loving sister Lucy, Read Between the Wines is a book group with a difference. Simultaneously celebrating the art of wordsmithery and the beauty of wine craft, they pair a short story with a selection of three wines and open the floor to taste, discover and discuss.
Amiable and accessible rather than challenging and erudite, it’s a lighthearted, interactive and lively evening, where everyone’s opinions and tastes are welcome.
You’ll get a copy of the story to read beforehand as well as a performance of the story on the night itself. Clare encourages the story conversation, while Lucy walks everyone through a tailored wine tasting, highlighting each wine’s flavour notes, synergies and connections with the story.
“It's been so fascinating to think in terms of the story's flavours and characters and map that to the wine in the glass. Imagine having a pairing on the back cover of every book! I'd like to do that with the novel I'm writing now. 'Pairs well with a Xinamavro'. That would be brilliant .” - Gurnaik Johal, author of 'Arrival', Read Between the Wines' short story pairing, June 2023
